Marketing 2010: Email Promo Test

I just sent out an "Email Promo" to my Linked In connections. I sent it to test the waters a bit and see what kind of response I can illicit from people I already know in some way, shape, or form. I know it's an off week, between Christmas and New Years, and many people aren't going to the office or checking email. It will be interesting to see the results. If you received one of these emails and you've ended up here at the blog please leave a comment for me to help gauge the effectiveness of the "Email Promo". Tell me if you like it, you hate it, or if you want to get a post card through conventional mail.
This is the beginning and one segment of my new marketing plan for 2010. I'll be sending these emails as well as postcards to specific target market groups. As well as cold calling potential clients and arranging times to show them my printed portfolios.
I welcome and encourage any feedback you may have. Please leave a comment for me here on the blog, email me at josh@joshcampbell.com, or give me a call 617-921-6573.

Josh Campbell Photography: World Headquarters

The Command Center

My Digital Darkroom with small prints of my own work on the wall above it. These helped me to organize the new website and portfolio images. Off to the left are some tearsheets by people like Kevin Zacher, Josh Letchworth, Nathaniel Welch, and others.

Here's the print and scan center with some photos of the family, friends and old projects. The big poster is by Tyler Stout. He's got some killer illustrations and we also have some up in the house.

And we can't forget the guard dog/toe biter, Johnny Cash.

Not too long ago Andrew Hetherington was showing other photographers work spaces on his WTJ blog. So I thought I would share my space with you. Also during my short stint at Nemo Design and assisting Trevor Graves out in Portland, OR Trevor used to call the office Nemo World Headquarters. Thus inspiring the title: Josh Campbell Photography World Headquarters.

Being>Doing>Having

I created this image as a result of being inspired by my friend Denise. She shared with me that she goes for walks every day to be active and that she takes her camera along and it keeps her present to what she is doing at that particular moment. That way she's not thinking about what she "has to" do or "deal with" later.
That same day I was working in my office retouching files most of the day and when I was done I wanted to take a nap. Instead I remembered what Denise shared with me and chose to grab my camera and go for a walk. I don't normally do this, I normally set up lights and create photographs rather than go walkabout with the camera. But I didn't listen to any of my inner criticism and rolled with it.
As a result I shot a ton of stuff and captured this great moment right in my own neighborhood at a place I had never been to before. Very inspiring to me! Thanks again Denise!
Last night I was able to finally give Denise a print of this image along with four other people, while I was giving it to her two more people asked me for a print too. It's so touching, moving and inspiring for me to share my work, have people like and people want to have it. All this by being a photographer, doing photographer things, and having photography! So Awesome!
