VT Run + Gun Post 2: Vietnam Memorial

One of the stops I made was at the VT Welcome Center and home of Vermont's Vietnam Memorial. While I was checking it out and paying my respects to the fallen I met two veterans and members of a Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club. They were super friendly and I think a little psyched to see someone my age at the memorial. They were on there way to an event up in Canada to the Vietnam Memorial there. They shared with me that since Canada was neutral country they didn't recognize the soldiers in there country, "They shit on them up there worse than they shit on us here. Guys from up there were coming here and volunteering while chickenshits down here ran up there to hide."
Before I asked to photograph them I made sure to shake their hands and thank them for their service.
What a great experience and it's moments like this that I'm glad I took a personal day and hit the road. Pysched to be a photographer for sure.

VT Run and Gun Personal Day: Post 1

Last week was a mellow and somewhat slow work week. I decided to take a personal day and hit the road for what I like to call a "run and gun" trip up to Vermont. A "run and gun" day is when you get up nice and early, grab your gear and hit the road. You drive for hours, do something cool for hours, and drive back home all in the same day. This particular run and gun had Pittsford, VT as my destination. I threw the bike on the car about five minutes after I woke up, grabbed the rest of my mtb gear, my camera bag, my old polaroid land camera and a few packs of film and was gone shortly after. I pulled over and stopped when I wanted, no agenda, no time limits. I shot digital photos, iPhone snaps, and some cool b+w fuji-roids. I rode up a mountain on my bike, about two hours of pedaling uphill switchback after switchback. Bombed the trails back down and loaded up the car for the adventure home.
This post consists of the results from the Land Camera with B+W Fuji Instant Film. Enjoy and I'll post some other stories and photos from my run and gun VT trip this week, before I head back to VT next weekend!

Welcome to Vermont. Rt 89 near White River Junction

Truck stop view.

Vermont Welcome Center Tree.
Great VT style signage to let me know I reached my destination.

The directions on the website say drive on Rt 100 til you see the bike wooden bike wheel, found it!

The photo doesn't do the mountain justice, it was a long damn climb to the top of that thing.

My wheels. Run and guns are great with a 50mpg car.

Go big or go home!

The new website is up and looking pretty cool. Back in my snowboarding days we had a smartass half joking, half serious saying; "Go big or go home." So with this new edition of joshcampbell.com I did just that. Check out the full screen images and enjoy!
