Thursday: Portrait on the Go

This project may be turning into something. I'm liking the simple images its creating and it's fun to have an ongoing project with no real agenda other than going out and taking some photos of people. I'm excited to see where it goes. It also has me thinking of other natural/ambient light projects. I'm inspired!

Wednesday: Hipstamatic/iPhone Holga

Ahhh, the hipstamatic! Still so much fun! I actually printed a few images last week of the sixth grade students I spoke with. I sent them each a print of themselves to go with their show. I have to say the prints look really cool. Enjoy!

Tuesday: Photographer/Artist That Inspires Me

This week I am featuring friend and fellow photographer Christian Kozowyk as a photographer/artist that inspires me. We met a while back assisting Tibor Nemeth and have been good friends since. We roll through the woods together on our mountain bikes and share a love for the Boston Celtics. I have watched Christian make the transition from assistant to full time photographer and he's done it quite successfully. Just check out his recent work for the Army to see the cool work he's getting.
Thanks for inspiring me Christian. Keep killing it! And the trails will be dry soon so we can get out and tear it up some more!

Monday: Marketing Update

 

I have been shooting a bunch of personal work lately. Some running stuff and some ice climbing images too. In the past I have been sitting on images for a while before showing. Last week I updated my site with the most recent work. Then sent out several email blasts promoting the work and the site. I have seen a dramatic increase in website hits and have had a lot of really great feedback. I really like seeing that what I'm shooting is hitting home with my target markets. It inspires me to keep on shooting what I like and then put it out in the world!

This is a shot from my daughter Zoe's first day of kindergarden almost 6 years ago. I documented the morning with one roll of Kodak 3200. This is the shot she picked out to go in her 5th grade scrapbook. The one she chose of her now is part of the Kids Faces series on my website, check it out here. Enjoy!

Tuesday: A Photographer/Artist That Inspires Me

This week I am featuring Cole Barash as the photographer/artist that inspires me. Cole got into the game super young. He connected with Burton photographer Jeff Curtes when he was in junior high and asked a ton of questions. And shot a ton of film. Now Cole's in his early twenties traveling the globe shooting top pro snowboarders and ad campaigns for Nike. To put it simply, he's killing it. He is pushing snowboard photographing in a positive art driven way with his silo series and his skills of production really shine in the fireworks night pipe shoot for Transworld.

Cole, I am really proud of how far you've come and look forward to seeing where you take your photography. You have influenced me since you were a young grom back in VT and continue to do so with every image of yours I see. Thank you!
